Top 7 Bizarre Real Life Movie Re-enactments

real-life-flying-up-house-m

Every once in a while we find that really great film, that astoundingly impressionable and memorable film. The type of film that you could watch and watch and never get tired of until you can eventually quote it line by line. For many girls in my age group (18-21), Mean Girls was more than likely one of those films (she doesn’t even go here). It’s the type of film that makes you turn around and say “god why can’t my life be like that?” However, for some people the big screen really does become a reality and they take things that step too far. Its moments like these that make us take a step back down to earth and realize that life really doesn’t work the way it does in the movies. Here are some of the more Bizarre attempts people have made to relive the big screen…

1) Weekend at Bernie’s

This retro-eighties comedy sees two friends prop up their dead boss in order to benefit from a weekend at his beach house. In 2011 Robert Young and Mark Rubbinson from Denver found their friend dead. Rather than contacting the authorities or medical assistance, they decided to bring their friend out on one last wild night. The evening involved visits to bars, restaurants and even strip clubs, all paid for on their friend’s card. However Young and Rubbinson were then charged with identity theft, criminal impersonation and abuse of a corpse. What people find comical in the movies, they may not find funny in real life, especially when it involves hauling your dead friend around and mooching off their debit card.
2) Project X

After watching the wild party thrown by the project-X teens, it’s not surprising that teenagers across the world wanted to throw their own memorable and crazy party. While people in Ireland may remember infamous attempts such as project-X Cavan, some Project-X  re-enactments in America resulted in disastrous consequences. When near to 1,000 people turned up at an empty mansion in Houston, a party goer started shooting and a teenager lost their life.
3) Fight Club

Since the release of the film in 1999, there has been a series of copy cat fight clubs initiated, up until even present day. Each club has the intention of imitating Edward Norton and Brad Pitt’s clandestine goals and even of combatting capitalism, like in the film.  In 2009, people were terrified by an explosion in a New York Starbucks on Memorial Day, only to realise the explosion had been an attempt by a New York teenager to create his own “project mayhem.” In 2010, a Californian home was discovered to be a secret hideout for fight club members. Suspicion had arisen when two injured men had entered a fast food restaurant wounded.  When police had questioned the two men on their injuries, in true fight club fashion they refused to disclose any information.

4) Barbie: a Fairy Secret

Originally based on the classic children’s doll; there are a variety of films based on the silicone toys. These include Barbie: a Fairy Secret, Barbie and the Nutcracker, etc. and other such classics if you get my drift. Ukrainian Valeria Lukyanova decided to imitate the blonde icon however and has been hailed across the world as the human Barbie. Through an all liquid diet, breast implants and her meditation, Valeria aims to maintain perfection. According to Valeria, she originates from a different planet, and where she comes from, her look is the norm. It doesn’t stop there either. American Justin Jedica, has had over 90 operations to achieve the image of Barbie’s other half ken. Unfortunately the two were not compatible when they met for a photo shoot in New York. The two had a dispute after Justin accused Valeria of being fake.
5) Up

For their Television show How Hard Can it be, the National Geographic Channel attempted to build a house that would take flight attached to hundreds of Helium balloons. The idea was inspired by the Pixar cartoon where retiree Carl Frederickson takes off on an adventure from his own home with the use of… Helium balloons. The house may have not been made of solid bricks or wood and was custom made for the show. Nonetheless, the project was successful and the house managed to float 1,000 feet in the air with the use of 300 eight foot balloons.
6) The Truman Show

This nineties flick sees Jim Carrey live his life staged by actors, filmed every day, watched by viewers all across America and eventually come to the horrid realisation that his life has been a sham. While we have our own reality TV stars filmed day-by-day like the Jersey/Geordie shore crew and in some cases we watch them compete for basic necessities (Big Brother), none quite know the feat of Nasubi from Japan who was locked in a tiny apartment and filmed for fifteen months. The deal was that Nasubi could live off nothing other than what he won from magazine prizes. This included food and even clothes. Though Nasubi had been told that he would be filmed, he did not think the content would be aired until after the show. After great popularity, People were able to watch Nasubi 24 hours live.
7) Jaws

In January of this year a colossal sixteen foot great white shark was spotted swimming 20 nautical miles off the coast of the Hamptons. Without doubt, the idea of a carnivorous shark swimming so close to the coastline of a sea side resort would strike fear into any beach goer, particularly once you’ve seen the oceanic horror film. According to experts however the shark, “Mary Lee” as she is called, was not to be feared. She is tracked regularly and one expert has even said “this is truly the most historic and legendary fish I have ever been a part of”.
